CALL US: 416.923.7747
Everyone says it, but it does not always translate into reality. I got an email from a woman that was very upset. She is a cancer patient and had bought a wig from a wig salon at her hospital (not Continental Hair’s wig salon at The Odette Centre, just to let you know) and was not at all happy. Why? Because they refused to style it. Any wig, even a synthetic like the one that she purchased, needs to be styled. But they said that not only could they not style it, but that no one should either. It would ruin it.
Well, she heard about us and asked if we could help. I emailed back to her that its not usual for us to work on someone else’s stuff but I would make an exception for her. I told her it would cost $150 and we could not take any responsibility for the outcome. I know that does not sound very accommodating but it was more than she was getting anywhere else.
She came in this afternoon. I was not here and did not even meet her. However, after I got back from wrestling with my Toyota dealership (well, that is not entirely fair, they were very nice), I got this email which I immediately shared with my staff, and now with you.
“Hi Michael:
I want to sincerely thank you so much for allowing me into your salon. We received the upmost exceptional service ever at your salon today! I went in very sad and depressed about a wig that I purchased for a great deal of money that I refused to put on because I just hated to look at myself in the mirror. Corale was my stylist and she was so kind., helpful, knowledgable and professional. She made my experience today life changing along with all the other stylists in the salon today. You have the best staff.”
Its nice to know that I don’t even need to be here and people are happy. I might not want to advertise that too much though.
I started saying it in the ’80s, a wig out of a box looks like a wig out of the box. You can’t wear a suit without it being tailored. Its just the same thing. Actually, usually it takes more than one styling session as it sometimes needs to be “tweaked” as we call it around here. So make sure that when you are looking for something that they not only will style it, and that they stand behind their styling, but that you can still get it changed.
Have a great weekend. Making someone this happy has already made mine.
I am so happy with the color and style I am almost in tears. It is absolutely gorgeous. I feel so good about my self with this on!
I can’t believe the quality of the hair, the style and the look. You all have put so much work into this. Its a lot lighter than it was at first and looks a lot healthier.
I am so grateful I found this salon. I regret not finding you sooner in my life.
I can not thank you all so much for this feeling of “normalcy” .
My last hair piece, just this past weekend, I was stopped by a stranger complimenting the cut and color. I was in the USA this summer and had been stopped with many compliments. No one can tell its a wig, they think I have perfect hair!
Nobody asks me where I purchased my wig, they always ask me where I got my hair cut.
Again, I can not thank all of you enough for what I have from your salon.
I am a lifetime customer, worth the drive from North Bay and I tell everyone about Continental.
I really enjoyed the story from other women with Alopecia.

A little background. I got a call from the mother of an 11 year old girl that has trichotillomania. They wanted to come in the same afternoon if possible. I saw them at 4:00.
The little girl was very charming and mature and confident. Her mother explained what they had been going through in trying to find something suitable. The area that had been picked out was a 3 inch wide swath that went from the front hairline to the crown. This is not an unusual area in these cases. We were able to find a postiche in house that matched her colour and length. We were able to cut it in for her and she left with it on.
Because she was under 12 the piece came under the Wigs For Kids program and was free of charge.
Dear Michael and Staff,
A deep thank you to you and your staff. I have not seen such a smaile on my daughter’s face for several months now. The smile lasted all evening long and I am sure it will continue for weeks. She is so happy with her new look. She also appreciated the kind way everyone treated her. That you Seven with the scissors, the other stylists’ cheer and chat, the receptionist and yourself Michael for your welcome and expertise. You all added your touches of style and devotion that have made a big impact on my daughter.
Many thanks.
Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Michael and the staff at Continental Hair.
Our daughter has Alopecia Aoeorta and, Thank God for you, she now has gained so much more confidence about herself. My husband and I were in complete shock when Michael welcomed us and was extremely friendly with Domenica .
Here we were just going in for a consultation, as we didn’t know if we were ready but Domenica (our daughter) did indeed know what she wanted, and that day we left with the Postiche. I had to keep my tears in, I just couldn’t believe it seeing her with a big smile and flipping her hair as we walked out!
Home from school first day “Mommy Mommy everyone said what’s different… looks good!”. I said “You know just because people might not notice is just how amazing this piece is.”
Thank You All. On behalf of the Riccardi Family.
P.S .Domenica was so thrilled with the blowdry that this little 9 year old has written a letter to Seven, a hairstylist at Continental Hair. Thank You , Michael and Seven!!!
Continental Hair Rocks!!!

Dear Michael and staff,
I want to thank you all very much for helping my mom Ruth out and making her such a beautiful wig! She has had many compliments on it and feels good in it! It is so important as you and your team know to help lift the spirits. You have been very kind and thoughtful and we all appreciate it.
Be well,
Roberta S.
Michael and staff,
Everything is going quite well with my wig! Thank you so much for your professionalism during such a difficult time. I had meant to thank you both more than I did but I found myself in an overwhelming emotional state! I just love my new hair and will definitely come back in a few years.
With much thanks,
Kristina
Dear Michael,
This letter is to express appreciation and gratitude for the professional help given to me by you and your staff at Continental Hair. Your assistance in selecting the most suitable wig for me during the most difficult time in my life has been invaluable.
The wig we decided on gave me the confidence to carry on with everyday activities, in spite of the fact that I was undergoing six months of aggressive chemotherapy. I could put my wig on and look like my old self (even if I didn’t quite feel like my old self)!
Even more amazing was the fact that the wig was so natural-looking that when I first began to wear it, my spouse, family, friends and even my oncologists were shocked and surprised to learn it was indeed a wig!
I truly believe I would have become a recluse this past year had it not been for the wig, which maintained my appearance, boosted my self-esteem, and ultimately helped me to cope with the devastating physical and emotional side effects of chemotherapy.
Thank you for your expertise, kindness and compassion.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. A. C.
Dear Michael,
This is a late Christmas card to again thank you for all your help, and your recent e-mail. I got the Infusium Ultra and some good shampoo. I don’t have many pictures of myself, but I am having my stylist do my hair again (she does a much better job than me) and I will take a picture and send it to you. I’m no model, but you are welcome to use it on your web site. Good luck and God bless you!
Sincerely,
Annette C.
Michael and staff,
Thank you so much for making this difficult time in our lives a little more manageable. Lisa has returned to school with confidence and received only favourable comments about her new hairstyle (that being the wispy bangs). Thanks to her wonderful wig she is participating in all her regular activities (when she has the energy), including school, gym and her badminton club.
I haven’t yet been able to convince her to take the wig off for sleeping, but she is wearing the hairnet you provided which keeps the hair nice and smooth. She just doesn’t like the feel of her head with the wig off. I certainly can’t blame her so am not pushing the issue and just hope the wig will last until her own hair returns.
The nurses at Sick Kids were amazed with Lisa’s wig and all wanted to know where we got it. Naturally, we recommended your shop with confidence!
Thank you again so much for your kind consideration.
Kind regards,
Barry and Renee B.
Dear Michael and staff,
It has been almost 6 months since Kristina and I photocopied the “wig” section of the Toronto phone book, looking for a store that could help Kristina buy a wig. Although her hair loss wasn’t a total hair loss, her hair loss was very, very upsetting to her. She had been starting to avoid social situations and was upset about losing most of her hair before her wedding.
We of course decided to come to Continental Hair, and from the first moment we walked into your salon, you put both of us, but most importantly Kristina, at complete ease. You treated her with respect and took her emotional state totally in stride. You and your team stayed after store closing hours to accommodate us as we were from out of town, and were leaving for Thunder Bay the next day. This was really appreciated. I’ll never forget how many times I “caught” Kristina looking at herself in store windows and in mirrors the day we left your salon. She told me she finally felt whole again, and felt she would be able to face the world again.
Her fiancé met us at the airport when we arrived home and he told her she was absolutely beautiful. She has received many, many compliments, and quite a few people who she has met after her wig purchase had no idea that it was a wig. She was just a maid of honour at her best girlfriend’s wedding and her hairdresser had put Kristina’s hair and wig in an “updo” and I think she looked absolutely smashing!! She hopes to wear her hair in the same style at her own wedding this July.
Kristina has been e-mailing for a while to another alopecia sufferer and referred her to you just in the last couple of months. Sharon is from Pennsylvania (also a schoolteacher), and is very, very pleased with her wig.
Thank you very much for bringing my daughter back! She is back to her old self again, enjoying life and having fun. I will highly recommend your salon to anyone in need. You are highly professional, and have treated my daughter with dignity. Thank you again, and thank you to all of your staff.
Sincerely,
Laura P.
