Early Signs of Hair Loss in Women

From chemotherapy to alopecia, there are a wide range of treatments and conditions that can lead to hair loss in women. Depending on the rate in which your hair falls out, you may not even notice the issue until you’ve lost a lot. Regardless of what’s behind your hair loss, we’re here to help you identify the signs early on so you have ample time to find a hair replacement solution that works for you.

Identifying hair loss in women is typically much more difficult than in men, especially early on if you don’t know what to look for. This is especially true for women who have long, thick hair who are losing it at a slow rate. However, there are a few things you can look out for like additional hair on your hands in the shower. It’s normal for everyone to lose some hair each day, but if you’re noticing clumps of it in your hands or in the bath tub while showering, you may be losing it at a faster rate than normal.

In most cases, hair loss in women will involve a thinning of hair around the crown. Because of this, it is important to check the very top of your head if you suspect you are experiencing hair loss. If you can’t get a good look yourself, ask a friend, family member, or doctor to examine the area and even take pictures. Check this area every couple of weeks and try to identify whether or not it looks any thinner than usual.

You are probably very familiar with your hair and how you style it. If you begin noticing it is harder to style the way you want, or there is more hair on your brush, these are all indicators it could be falling out. The sooner you do something about your hair loss, the less you will have to worry about it, so don’t go another day without seeking help!
